Ecology and geomorphology of streams

Each spring quarter, Jeff Mount (Geology) and I teach a multidisciplinary course on watersheds and streams. The course is funded in part by the President's Chair in Undergraduate Education, which we share. The course is preparation for 10 days of research on a large river system, usually by rafting. In 2004, we floated the Skeena River in BC in August. In 2005, we (mostly) floated the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, in 2006 we ‘did’ the Green River through the Gates of Lodore, and in 2007 we floated the Grande Ronde in Oregon. For details of the course and student reports on past trips see: Website.
